Celebrating Urdu’s lyrical splendour
Majlise Fakhre Bahrain is organising Aalami Mushaira (Kavi Sammelan) Bayaad e Anand Narain Mulla, on February 18 at Cultural Hall of National Museum Complex of Bahrain.
The event, celebrating Urdu’s inimitable beauty, its soul-stirring cadence and lyrical splendour, is in memory of Pandit Anand Narain Mulla.
Anand Narain was one of the outstanding poets of Urdu. He served some of the Urdu organizations in very senior positions, such as President, Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Urdu and Chairman, U.P. Urdu Academy.
He received Sahitya Akademi Award in 1964. Deeply influenced by Gandhi and Nehru, Anand had been a major patriotic poet of Urdu.
Basically classical in diction, his poetry is contemporary in its social and political concerns.
The book “The Poetic Diction and personality of Anand Narain Mulla” will be launched at this event. Renowned Urdu poet Prof. Waseem Barelvi, Munawwar Rana, Wajeeduddin (Shehpar Rasool), Shiv Kumar, known by his pen name Sheen Kaaf Nizam, Anwar Jalalpuri, Khushbir Singh Shaad, Aleena Itrat, Hamid Iqbal Siddiqui, Shahid Zaki, Aziz Nabil and other local poets will attend the event.
