Universal artist to uncover Kingdoms’ music industry

Alexis a Universal MENA Music Artist who recently released a new Arabic-influenced Soul album ‘This is Me’ is to uncover Kingdom’s Music Industry. With Egyptian roots and UAE family, Alexis embraces her Middle Eastern heritage on her second album ‘This Is Me.’ ‘This Is Me’ is a stunning mix of retro Soul, Middle Eastern melodies, heartfelt lyrics and all the high notes. The second album covers a lot of musical territories, spanning everything from modern R’n’B and Trap influences to the Blues and Middle Eastern melodies, all drenched in a rich retro-Soul sound.

Alexis wrote and produced the bulk of the album alongside several high-profile collaborations. Grammy-award winning duo Carvin & Ivan co-produced one of the album’s tracks while Bashiri Johnson, a long-time Michael Jackson collaborator, helped create the dynamic percussion that drives the album forward. The songwriting on ‘This Is Me’ is indebted with a sense of self, an open-hearted awareness and searing honesty that shines through, notably on soaring plaintively over an emotive 90s-style piano ballad.

Speaking to Tribune on her future plans Alexis said, “I think that there is a wealth of incredible ‘untapped’ talent that exists in Bahrain. It’s just a matter of the public recognising this and lending support. Local musicians and artists then need to rise to the challenge and bring their very best to their audience.” “Moreover, I am looking forward to visiting Bahrain again this Spring.

I believe Bahraini artists are truly representative of what art and music should be a fusion of the very best of influences from around the region, progressive but still connected to tradition” “Ali Bahar, a Bahraini singer, guitarist and organ player known for his music band Al Ekhwa who was also known as the Bob Marley of the Gulf and has been called as being the most popular musician in Bahrain’s history is still a favourite of mine. His ability to communicate a feeling in his music is still rarely matched.” “Bahrain is Wonderful and progressive.

I hope I don’t offend anyone by saying this, but I’ve always felt that Bahrain was a sister state to us in the UAE. We all have our unique identities but at the same time, we share so much in common. Thus I believe that we should utilise the opportunity to further grow the industry.”
