Focus on Bahrain’s public sector eTransformation

‘eTransformation in Public Sector’ will be the focus of the upcoming Bahrain International eGovernment Forum on its first day.

The ministerial panel discussion in the forum taking place on 7th & 8th October will be led by Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Minister of Justice & Islamic Affairs along with Zayed bin Rashed AlZayani, the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

The Panel will address public entities experiences in the digital transformation in the country along with the positive impact of employing technology to improve quality, efficiency and effectiveness in government service.

The event will be held under the patronage of Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa - Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information & Communication Technology.

Commenting on the forum, Mohamed Ali AlQaed, the Chief Executive of Information & eGovernment Authority, said that the authority is keen on dedicating part of the forum to highlight public entities which made a significant progress within the eTransformation field.

In this regard, he also pointed out the contributions made by Ministries of Justice & Islamic Affairs as well as Industry, Commerce and Tourism. “The fruitful outcomes of adapting technology to support Bahrain’s efforts in the eTransformation field are seen today in several sectors and has certainly contributed in speeding the process of eTransformation in the country,” he added.

The Chief Executive continued that eTransformation requires understanding necessary changes to successfully implement the process and enter a new era of faster, better-performing performance for the public in terms of businesses and processes.

The Panel will be followed by a related eTransformation session delivered by international experts from the United Kingdom represented by Government Digital Service Cabinet Office Director Dr Chris Ferguson, from UAE Deputy General Manager, Information & eGovernment Sector Salem AlHoseni, together with Oman’s Information Technology Authority Acting Director General of eServices Ibrahim Talib AlWardi.

This year’s forum will gather nearly 20 local, regional and international elite speakers who will enrich the Forum with their views and experiences in this arena. All those concerned in this sector may participate in the Forum by visiting www.egovforum.bh.
