Death sentence for cop’s killers
The High Criminal Court yesterday sentenced four suspects to death after they were convicted of committing a terrorist explosion that killed one police officer and injured two others in Diraz area on June 18 last year, said Terror Crime Chief Prosecutor Ahmed Al Hammadi. The police officer died in the blast was 31-year-old Abdulsamad Haji.
The suspects were charged with murder, illegal possession, handling and use of weapons and an explosive device that claimed a human life and damaged public and private properties. They also received training on how to use weapons and explosives. The court also ordered the suspects to collectively pay BD1,000 fine in compensation for the damages caused by the blast and revoked their citizenship.
The terrorist blast took place in the Diraz area where the suspects conspired to kill police officers by targeting security vehicles with explosive devices.
