Search on for missing man in Bahrain

Manama : A search is underway for a 60-year-old man, who is reportedly missing for the past one week.

Thilakan Ondayankaryan, an Indian national, who worked as a football coach for the Indian Talent Academy, has been missing since the 4th of February 2018.

“Thilakan is a football coach for the academy I run, and he is missing for past one week,”  Latheesh Bharathan, Managing Director of Indian Talent Academy told DT News.

“Around 9:00 am on 4th of February 2018, he went to the Manama market to buy jerseys for the students. I spoke to him at around 10:30 am that day and when I called him back again at 11:00 am his phone was switched off, and we did not hear from him since then,” Bharathan said.

Bharathan said he has lodged a police complaint and also approached the Indian Embassy in Bahrain for help.

“Thilakan and I  have been friends for past 30 years, besides he was also my employee for a year now,” Bharathan said.

Thilakan’s roommate told DT News that Thilakan left the apartment early morning for work on the 4th February and hasn’t been back since then. “All his personal belongings are untouched and his official documents including his passport are at the apartment itself,” the roommate added.

When contacted his family in his home country, Thilakan’s 22-year-old son Vyshak told DT News, “The last time my father spoke to us was sometime around the last week of January and after that, he hasn’t contacted us.”

“His sponsor told us that he went missing. We tried reaching him on his personal number but the phone has been switched off for a week now.”

“Furthermore, he did not mention us about any troubles. Just that he was stressed regarding the financial condition at home,” Vyshak said.
