FM condemns attempts to hold demonstrations in Saudi
Manama : Foreign Affairs Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed Al Khalifa yesterday lashed the ‘malicious’ calls made online to organise demonstrations in Saudi Arabia, terming it as an attempt to disrupt public order.
The campaign dubbed “September 15 Movement” reportedly aired calls for organising demonstrations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Responding to the issue on his Twitter handle, the minister condemned the move as an attempt to disrupt public order and create instability in the Kingdom.
“It’s clear that Qatar and its accounts (on Twitter) aim at harming the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its people, the same way it targeted Bahrain and failed,” the minister wrote hailing the loyalty of the people of Saudi Arabia to their homeland and their leaders.
The campaign and its counter campaigns threads became the most discussed topics in the GCC on Twitter, yesterday, recording around one million tweets.
