London:  The British government on Monday announced a £250 million funding package to bolster security for the Jewish community following a surge in antisemitic attacks.

Over the next three years, the initiative will deploy more than 500 police officers to districts with significant Jewish populations, including 300 in London. The funding also supports increased patrols at synagogues and schools, alongside the deployment of plain-clothed officers to enhance local safety.

Deputy Commissioner Matt Jukes described the threat to Jewish communities as exceptional, citing rising hate crime and terrorism. Recent violence includes an October 2025 Manchester synagogue attack that killed two people and a terrorist stabbing in London last April.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that tackling antisemitism is central to his leadership, pledging this support to defend British values and protect citizens from targeted hate.
