Ebola Death Toll in DR Congo Rises to 506 as Health Workers Threaten Strike

Goma : The death toll from the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo has risen to 506, with 1,561 confirmed cases, according to the latest World Health Organization data based on reports from Congolese health authorities.
The WHO said neighbouring Uganda continues to report 20 confirmed cases and two deaths.
The outbreak has also been complicated by a strike threat from frontline health workers in Ituri province. Medical staff have warned they will stop work over unpaid benefits, low wages, poor working conditions and shortages of essential equipment.
Health workers also accused authorities of relying heavily on staff from other provinces instead of prioritising local workers as the country battles its latest Ebola outbreak.
