Hagåtña, Guam: Tens of thousands of people were left without electricity after Super Typhoon Bavi tore through the US Pacific territories of Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands, causing widespread damage but no reported casualties.

The worst-hit area was the island of Rota, where winds of up to 290 km/h (180 mph) destroyed homes, uprooted trees, toppled power lines, and cut off water and mobile services. Residents reported severe damage, with many roofs ripped off and the entire island left without electricity and running water.

Authorities said emergency crews were working to clear roads and restore essential services. Officials confirmed there were no reports of injuries or deaths.

Power outages were also reported across Saipan and Tinian in the Northern Mariana Islands, as well as parts of Guam, although the damage there was less severe than that caused by Super Typhoon Sinkalu earlier this year.
