Reggio Emilia Italy: Authorities in northern Italy have cancelled planned concerts by Kanye West and Travis Scott, citing public safety concerns and the risk of unrest.
The performances were scheduled for July 17 and 18 as part of the Pulse of Gaia Festival in Reggio Emilia. Officials said the decision was influenced by the large crowds expected, the close timing of the events and the possibility of counter-demonstrations.
Authorities also noted concerns raised by local groups, including the Jewish community, over West's appearance. The rapper, also known as Ye, has faced widespread criticism for antisemitic remarks and statements praising Adolf Hitler, leading to several concert cancellations in recent years.
While Travis Scott was not part of the controversy, his performance was also scrapped as part of the overall security assessment.
West recently performed in Istanbul and remains scheduled for concerts elsewhere in Europe.
