An Egyptian television presenter was injured after a lion cub attacked her during the filming of a television programme in Cairo, raising renewed concerns over the use of wild animals in studio productions.
According to local media reports, TV host Marwa Abdel Moneim was filming an episode focused on handling predatory animals when the lion cub suddenly lunged at her during an on-camera interaction.
Witnesses said the animal bit the presenter on her hand and shoulder before crew members intervened to control the situation.
Abdel Moneim was later transported to hospital, where she received precautionary medical treatment, including rabies vaccinations and antibiotics, to prevent possible complications.
Hours after the incident, the presenter confirmed that she had been discharged from hospital and was recovering at home in stable condition despite suffering physical injuries and shock.
The attack has sparked renewed debate over safety standards surrounding the use of wild animals in television productions, with experts warning that such appearances can pose serious risks to presenters, crew members and audiences if strict safety measures are not followed.
