Suspect to Appear in Court After Shooting Incident at Washington

The suspect accused of storming the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in Washington, D.C., is set to appear in court on Monday for arraignment, federal prosecutors said.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect will be brought before a U.S. district judge in the capital following the incident, which involved an exchange of gunfire with U.S. Secret Service agents. Officials said the man was eventually subdued and taken into custody.

According to prosecutors, the suspect faces multiple charges, including using a firearm during a violent crime and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.

Officials said the suspect approached and charged a security checkpoint while armed with multiple weapons. During the confrontation, one Secret Service officer was shot. The officer survived after the bullet was stopped by a protective vest.

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed the planned charges and court appearance, noting the seriousness of the case. The investigation is still ongoing.

Speaking after the incident, President Donald Trump praised the response of the Secret Service, saying the armed suspect was “taken down by very brave members” of the agency. He confirmed that the injured officer is recovering well, adding that the protective vest “did its job.”
