UAE Issues Over 1,800 Social Media Advertiser Permits

The UAE Media Council has issued more than 1,800 Advertiser Permits as part of a new initiative to regulate social media advertising across the country. The announcement was made during the 14th International Government Communication Forum in Sharjah.

The move aims to strengthen the UAE’s position as a global advertising hub, attract talent, and protect consumers from unapproved or misleading content.

To meet growing demand, the council has also launched the Advertiser Permit Guide 2025, which provides clear instructions for individuals and companies on how to obtain a permit. The guide outlines the entities authorised to issue permits in each emirate and specifies the types of commercial activities that require one, including e-commerce, marketing management, and advertising services.

Mohammed Saeed Al Shehhi, Secretary-General of the UAE Media Council, said the initiative supports a vibrant media environment, empowers creators, and attracts investment. He added that applicants from 75 countries have received permits, highlighting the council’s role in meeting industry needs while ensuring safe and professional content.

The permits are valid for one year for UAE residents and citizens and are renewable. Visitors can apply for a three-month permit, which can be extended up to six months. The guide encourages creators and companies to register and benefit from the opportunities in the UAE’s growing advertising sector.
