Israel's Defence Minister, Israel Katz, announced a “special situation” across the country following a preemptive military strike on Iran. As a precaution, all schools in Israel were ordered to remain closed on Friday.

Details of the strike remain unclear, and officials have not confirmed what specific targets were hit. However, tensions escalated quickly after Iranian state media, specifically the Tasnim news agency, reported that Major General Hossein Salami, the head of Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in the attack. According to the report, the strike hit IRGC headquarters.

The Israeli government has warned that a response from Iran—possibly involving missiles and drones—is expected soon, potentially targeting civilian areas.

“This is a critical moment. We acted to protect our citizens, and now we are preparing for any retaliation,” Minister Katz stated.

The announcement has heightened anxiety among the Israeli public, with emergency protocols activated nationwide and citizens urged to stay alert. More updates are expected as the situation develops.
