Residents of a neighborhood in Gaza woke up on Friday morning to a heartbreaking sight — a newborn baby left on the steps of an apartment building.
The baby was wrapped in a thin piece of cloth, and beside him was a note that read:
“My husband is a prisoner. I can’t feed the baby. I don’t produce milk and can’t afford formula.”
The child was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors said he is in stable condition and receiving care.
This sad incident comes at a time when many families in Gaza are struggling to survive. The United Nations agency UNRWA recently warned that not enough aid has entered the area in the past three months. As a result, people are facing extreme hardship, and the needs of the population continue to grow.
The abandoned baby is a painful example of how difficult life has become for many in Gaza.
