One of Dubai’s most iconic attractions, the Dubai Fountain, will temporarily close for five months starting in May for a major renovation, developers have announced.
The upgrade aims to enhance the visitor experience with advanced technology, improved choreography, and an upgraded sound and lighting system. Despite the temporary closure of the fountain itself, the surrounding areas of the 12-hectare Burj Lake will remain open, ensuring continued access to the Dubai Mall and Burj Khalifa.
“Dubai Fountain is more than a spectacle—it is a reflection of Dubai’s soul, where art, innovation, and emotion come together in perfect harmony,” said Mohamed Alabbar, founder of Emaar Properties, the developer behind the attraction. “As we elevate this iconic landmark, we continue to create experiences that connect people, inspire wonder, and stand the test of time.”
Originally created by Emaar in 2005 and inaugurated in 2009, the Dubai Fountain was designed by Wet Design, the same team responsible for Las Vegas’ renowned Bellagio Fountains.
Recognized as the largest performing fountain of its kind in the world, the Dubai Fountain can propel water up to 152 meters into the air, with 22,000 gallons of water soaring at any given moment. Spanning 274 meters in length, it is equipped with 6,600 lights and 25 color projectors, producing breathtaking performances synchronized to a diverse range of musical genres.
Once renovations are complete, the upgraded fountain is expected to offer an even more immersive experience, solidifying its status as a must-visit destination in Dubai.
