The Bahrain Football Association has confirmed that the national team will take part in the West Asian Championship, scheduled to be held in Oman next November.

The tournament falls within the FIFA international match window, ensuring full availability of national team players for the competition.

The 2026 West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship will mark the 10th edition of the regional tournament, bringing together all 12 member associations for the first time.

The competition has undergone several scheduling changes in recent years, originally planned for 2021 before being postponed multiple times and later rescheduled, with Oman ultimately confirmed as hosts.

Bahrain will be making their fifth appearance in the competition, having last featured in 2019. The national team’s best performance remains their most recent triumph, when they clinched the ninth edition title last August in Iraq after a 1–0 win over the hosts in the final, courtesy of Isa Musa’s goal.

The expanded format will feature a strong field including Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen, setting up a highly competitive edition of the tournament.
