Bahrain’s growing presence in regional tennis has been reinforced after player Ahmed Mohammed Al Sayyid secured the Saudi First Division men’s title, officials said.

Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, chairman of the Permanent Committee for Tennis, said the achievement reflects the strong backing given to sport in Bahrain and the continued development of national athletes.

Al Sayyid claimed the title while competing with Saudi club Al Ibtisam, adding another international result to Bahrain’s recent sporting record.

He also highlighted the role of senior sports patrons in Bahrain in strengthening the country’s competitiveness abroad, noting that structured support has helped athletes perform at higher levels in regional and international events.

The official praised the Ministry of Interior’s tennis programme, saying institutional support has played a key role in improving performance standards and discipline among players.

He added that Bahrain’s tennis strategy continues to focus on training development, competitive exposure, and participation in major tournaments such as the Bahrain Open Challenger, which provides valuable international experience.

Al Sayyid’s success follows a strong run of results in 2025, including regional and Asian titles as well as recognition by the Asian tennis governing body for his performances across junior competitions.
