Bahrain continued its strong performance in shooting at the eighth Arab Women Sports Tournament in Sharjah, UAE, yesterday. Safa Mohammed Al Doseri of Al Riffa Club won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle individual event, maintaining accuracy and focus throughout the qualification and final rounds to stay ahead of competitors from UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, and other Arab nations.

On the same day, Al Riffa Club also secured gold in the 10m air rifle women’s team competition, delivering a coordinated performance to close the rifle discipline on a high note.

These wins bring Al Riffa Club’s total in shooting to four golds and one bronze. They rank fourth on the overall medal table with 21 points, behind Sharjah Women’s Sports Club from the UAE, which leads with nine golds and 46 points.

Bahrain’s women’s basketball team, Al Hala, also played yesterday, losing 81-52 to Jordan’s Al Fuheis (19-6, 25-17, 23-13, 14-16). The team opened the tournament with a narrow 68-65 defeat to hosts Al Sharjah and has struggled for consistency in group play, including losses to Ghaz Al Shamal (IRQ) and Al Amal (TUN). While basketball has proved challenging so far, Bahrain’s athletes excelled in shooting, where the day ended on a high note.

The 10m air rifle events and awarding ceremony took place at Al Dhaid Sports Club, with Safaa Mohammed Al Doseri and the Al Riffa Club receiving their gold medals. Bahrain aims to maintain this momentum and add to its medal haul as the Arab Women Sports Tournament continues until February 12.
