Aouad Advances to 1500m Final

Bahrain’s middle-distance runner Zouhair Aouad secured his spot in the men’s 1500 metres final at the Islamic Solidarity Games. He advanced after a composed performance in yesterday’s opening round at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.

Aouad clocked 3:59.19 to place fifth in Heat Two, earning automatic qualification behind a rapid leading pack headed by Morocco’s Hafid Rizqy, who won the heat in 3:51.52.

With his time ranking him fifth overall across both heats, Aouad comfortably progressed among the 11 finalists moving on from the preliminary stage.

The 36-year-old Bahraini veteran now shifts focus to the medal round, set for tomorrow at 9.15pm, where he will aim to contend with the region’s top middle-distance runners.
