Bahrain take command at Asian junior tennis championship

Bahrain’s young tennis stars impressed on home soil, sweeping the major titles at the Asian Junior Tennis Championship under-16 event.

Ahmed Al Sayed claimed the boys’ singles crown with a straight-sets win over Ahmed Sarooji of Saudi Arabia, 6-4, 6-3. In the girls’ final, Sophia Bader capped an impressive week by defeating fellow Saudi Fatima Al Ba’ajri, 6-4, 6-0.
There was more success for Bahrain in the doubles, as Ahmed and Talal Al Sayed edged out Abdulrahman Al Doseri (Bahrain) and Parth Sani (India) in an exciting decider, 3-6, 6-2, 12-10.
The trophies were presented by Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Bahrain Tennis Federation, during the closing ceremony at the federation’s courts at Bahrain Polytechnic in Isa Town, attended by board members Mohammed Salman, Mohammed Al Sayed, and Adnan Kamal.
