Sitra Make Gulf Champions Debut

Historic Clash Against UAE Giants

Bahrain’s Sitra Club begin their Gulf Champions Cup campaign today, taking on UAE side Al Ain at 7:30 PM at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain. The match will be Sitra’s debut in the competition.

Sitra aim to achieve a positive start in their first appearance, presenting a competitive performance against one of the UAE’s strongest teams. Al Ain, playing at home, will enjoy significant crowd support, adding to the challenge for the Bahraini side.

“Our first international participation, we aim to show it in a positive way that honors our club and the nation,” said  Ali Al Asfoor. “A historic and exceptional moment for the club in its first international participation representing the nation. The opening match will not be easy, especially since Al Ain is an experienced team.”

Al Ain in Form

The UAE club enter the match as favourites, currently topping the UAE Pro League and unbeaten in six matches so far. In comparison, Sitra have accumulated 4 points from three domestic matches, highlighting the uphill task they face.

Final Preparations

Sitra completed their final training session yesterday at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium ahead of the Group A encounter. Head coach Issa Al-Saadoun said: “Al Ain is a big team in Asia and has high-level professional players. The preparation for the match was excellent, and high focus will be the key to delivering a great performance. Our goal is to come out with a positive result in the first match, especially since it is being played away.”
