Sabalenka Retains U.S. Open Crown with Win Over Anisimova

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka successfully defended her U.S. Open title on Saturday, defeating American eighth seed Amanda Anisimova 6-3, 7-6(3) in the women’s final. The victory reinforces Sabalenka’s dominance on hardcourts.

The Belarusian star has reached every hardcourt major final since 2022. This latest triumph brings her Grand Slam tally to four and makes her the first woman to win back-to-back U.S. Opens since Serena Williams, who won three straight between 2012 and 2014.

The match, featuring two of the sport’s hardest hitters, was decided by unforced errors. Sabalenka made just 15 compared to Anisimova’s 29, giving her the edge.

“I want to thank everyone who came here, who flew in to be in my box,” Sabalenka said, falling to her knees after sealing victory with an unreturnable serve. She later hugged her coaches in a joyous celebration. “I’m going to reach a lot more finals, and I want you there with me, no matter where in the world you are.”

Anisimova, appearing in only her second major final, had strong crowd support at Arthur Ashe Stadium but was unable to maintain momentum against the more experienced Sabalenka.
