Life without technology

One fine morning there is a sound of a cock crowing cock-a-doodle doo, waking me up from my sleep.  I woke up to see my house looking very different. I see my mother cooking on a chulha not a stove. Everything has changed; there is no T.V to watch, no PS4 to play. My mother rushes me to get ready for school. I even go to school on my bicycle. When I reached school we were supposed to sit on mats not on tables or chairs. We were learning from black boards not smart boards, the teachers used chalks and not markers. When it was time to go down for assembly a man took a triangle bell and hit it, there was no electrical bell. We went down for the assembly as there was no mics. After the school ended I went back home on my bicycle again. When I reached home it was 5:30! It was getting dark so my mother took a kerosene lamp and a match stick and lit the kerosene lamp as there was no light bulb. As it was cold and there was no heater, we had to make bon-fires outside our house and after all this I realised that we was living in mud houses. When I looked outside the streets was empty without any cars, instead there were bullock carts. People were walking around with kerosene lamps as there was no street lights and the shops outside also used kerosene lamps. My brother and I were playing on the empty streets with our friends and the stray dog. When my mother called me and my brother to have dinner we had to sit on the floor for dinner, even the glass I used was made of wood.  Soon it was time to sleep but as I was dozing off I suddenly got an awake call from my mom’s smartphone. I woke up to see that everything was back to normal. I saw smartphones, microwaves, T.V, Computers etc. Then I realised I was dreaming, this dream turned out to be horrifying. I totally agree that we are living in a time of technology but there was a time totally opposite where nothing was dependent on technology and life was actually hard and very different from today. There was no technology in the olden times but there was a lot of free time for innovation and free thinking. It is those who used their free time well, who have made our current lives easier and faster.
