Breaking the limits of education...

GoBahrain is a modern, educational program that has been recently launched in the heart of the kingdom. It brings together students of all ages and aims to break the traditional boundaries of teaching and learning by taking education further than the mundane ventures of textbooks, desks and chairs. The program’s mission is to educate students about the communities, charities and careers of Bahrain and the society they live in.

One thing they value greatly is exploration, as it evokes curiosity, which, in the wise words of William Arthur Ward, “is the wick of the candle of learning”. The Co-Chief Executive Officer, Iraj Lang, is especially keen on this part of the GoBahrain mission as it relates to her on a personal level. Iraj has been living on the island for over a decade and yet she still doesn’t feel like she has truly discovered the numerous characteristics of Bahraini culture. “We at GoBarain seek to give students the opportunity to indulge in the many fascinating aspects of Bahrain and, in turn, create a direct link between the pupil and the beautiful country they live in,” she says.

Their first successful excursion to the Bahrain National Museum featured a treasure hunt and an enlightening tour from Shaikha Hala on the 22nd October 2016. Amidst the history of Bahrain, students also learned about the unique Khaleeji tradition, Gurgaon, which is only prevalent in this region.

“We also hope to give students a chance to engage in helping our community and getting involved with creating a wonderful world; for the present day and future generations. We believe in the concept of “one small change from every person can make a huge impact on our world” and that it is possible to achieve big things when people work together. To help us achieve these things, we are supported by, and in partnership with, various organisations, including the Bahrain Cancer Society, who have aided us significantly through the rise of the program,” Lang said.

“To culminate the community work done by our program and to give back to our program partners, we also run a number of fundraisers from our headquarters at the British School of Bahrain. Our upcoming event at BSB’s annual International Family Fair will, this year, feature a student organized stall to support the Bahrain Cancer Society. As part of GoBahrain students will run their own fundraisers and events from the school grounds in order to develop their planning, preparation and project management skills. These will be successfully refined as they receive excellent guidance and help from our team of highly efficient and experienced instructors and members of staff.

GoBahrain’s final goal for the year will be to widen a student’s career prospects and choices. In the senior school, students begin to make informed choices about their future and potential careers, and we aim to facilitate this process by providing suitable facilities, correct tools and consistent support for all students involved. Exposing our students to the experiences of different professions (law firms, hospitals, music studios and more), while exploring many different avenues for career choices, is what we believe will give our pupils the best experiences for making informed decisions on this topic.

We take pride in the fact our program is organized by a number of talented students, led by the founders and Chief Executive Officers, Iraj A. Lang and Nabil H. Adili, and we also appreciate the help of our Director Mr L. Radley and our brilliant team of instructors, Kholoud Sabah, Ameer Al Zeera and Sean Massey. Breaking the limits of education, one step at a time!” Lang said.
