NBB Multiple Sclerosis Centre: A Model for Social Responsibility

The National Health Plan’s (2015-2026) commitment to improving public health took a major step forward with the inauguration of the new NBB Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre in Muharraq.

It was officially opened with a ceremony led by Supreme Council of Health chairman Lieutenant-General Dr. Shaikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa and NBB chairperson Hala Yateem.

Speaking to The Daily Tribune, Lieutenant-General Dr. Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health, emphasized the significance of the centre, calling it “a prime example of a successful partnership between the public and private sectors.”

He highlighted the unwavering support for public healthcare from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The opening ceremony was attended by dignitaries including Sheikh Hisham bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Governmental Hospitals, who commended the Ministry of Works’ collaboration in designing the center with the highest standards.

Hala Yateem, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of NBB, expressed her honor to be part of this initiative.

“The NBB Multiple Sclerosis Centre is a landmark achievement that will substantially improve the lives of patients in Bahrain,” she told The Daily Tribune. Usman Ahmed, Group CEO of NBB, echoed this sentiment, calling the centre “a significant leap forward for MS care in Bahrain.”

Highlighting the advanced facilities, he added, “The Centre will play a crucial role in providing essential support to MS patients.”

Advanced Technology

The center boasts a range of features, including seven outpatient clinics, MRI diagnostics, physiotherapy with manual therapy options, specialized treatment rooms, a laboratory, pharmacy, research center, lecture hall, medical storage, administrative offices, and parking.

Among the highlights attracting attention at the inauguration were the virtual treadmill and underwater treadmill in the physiotherapy department, showcasing the center’s commitment to cutting-edge technology.

This state-of-the-art facility marks a significant milestone in Bahrain’s healthcare landscape, offering hope and improved care for people living with Multiple Sclerosis.
