BACA president hails Premier’s support for fine arts movement

President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, yesterday said that His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa’s support for the fine arts movement in the Kingdom dates back to 1972, when Bahrain Annual Fine Art Exhibition was first launched, resulting in a rich artistic and cultural movement that reflects all schools and trends showcased in the 46th edition.

In a statement marking the beginning of the 46th Bahrain Annual Fine Art Exhibition, Shaikha Mai said that HRH Premier’s interest in enhancing the cultural movement in the Kingdom has contributed to making Bahrain a destination that attracts all forms of cultural creativity. She extended sincere thanks and gratitude to HRH the Prime Minister for his strong belief in culture and constant patronage of all events aimed at boosting cultural and artistic events in Bahrain.

HRH Premier had deputised Deputy Prime Minister, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, to open the 46th Bahrain Annual Fine Art Exhibition last Wednesday. During the opening ceremony, the Deputy Premier expressed pride in opening the event on HRH Premier’s behalf.

In this regard, fine artists agreed that HRH Premier’s patronage of the annual event affirm his unwavering support for arts and culture, as well as his belief in the role of the artistic message in enhancing communities’ civilisational progress. They affirmed that HRH Premier’s patronage of the exhibition on an annual basis has strengthening Bahrain’s distinguished standing in the field of fine art in the region.

They extended heartfelt thanks and gratitude to HRH Premier for patronising the event, as well as for encouraging them to carry on their artistic creativity. They affirmed that HRH Premier’s vision has enhanced the role of fine art in upgrading the Bahraini society, and contributed to supporting talented Bahraini artists, noting that the Premier’s vision has inspired them to enrich their artistic careers with outstanding works that are capable of competing at the international level.

They asserted that the launch of the Bahrain Annual Fine Art Exhibition since 1972 proves Bahrain’s leading role in developing the fine art movement.
