Modi came, saw and conquered

India’s bilateral ties with Bahrain is strengthened by the shared common grounds in culture and values, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told an audience of the Indian community yesterday. Similarities in culture and values are a strong uniting factor for India and Bahrain, he pointed out. This was said as Mr. Modi addressed a public gathering of Indian expatriates at Bahrain National Stadium in Isa Town. Close to 20,000 community members attended the event. “The relation with Bahrain is not just in trade and commerce, we also have shared common grounds in values and culture,” Mr. Modi said.

The event made Mr. Modi, who reached Bahrain yesterday, the first Indian Prime Minister to address in Bahrain. Mr Modi also urged Indian citizens in Bahrain to not only continue to be a strong part of Bahrain’s growth story but also to help Bahrain in social causes such as combating environmental pollution. He also urged his compatriots to encourage Bahrainis to discover India as a tourist destination.

He told the crowd about the several MoUs he signed with Bahrain government and in particular about the plan for the launch of RuPay card in Bahrain. Speaking about the RuPay card he elaborated that the transaction process will be eased by it and that remitting money to India will become more seamless.
