BREAKING NEWS: Family narrowly escapes apartment fire

A fire broke out on the third floor of a residential building in Um Al Hassan yesterday evening.

The resident of the apartment Ali Mohammed Akbar Khan, General Manager at AJM Kooheji, was present in the house along with his family when the incident took place.

Recalling the horrific incident Mr Khan told Tribune “The entire house went up in flames within 15 minutes, everything is destroyed. All we have left are the clothes we are wearing,”

My Khan’s grandmother was praying in one of the rooms when she noticed smoke coming from the nearby the A/C.

Mr Khan immediately evacuated his family from the apartment and informed the residents of the building to do the same.

In a bid to control the flames, Mr Khan returned to the apartment with a fire extinguisher he acquired form a neighboring building as his building was not equipped with one. Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain as the fire was extremely aggressive.

Civil Deference arrived on the scene within 6 minutes and took nearly an hour and half to control the situation.

“Luckily no one was injured; even our pet cats in the balcony are unharmed” said Mr Khan.

Mr. Mohammed Kooheji, Director of AJM Kooheji group contacted Mr Khan and extended immense help by providing the family with a furnished house.

Mr. Sanjeev Awasthi, CEO of AJM Kooheji visited the family on behalf of the company.

Many others including members of Aligarh Muslim University Bahrain association came forward to extend a helping hand as well.
