High attendance for Urdu Mushaira in Bahrain

The Pakistan Urdu Society held an international Urdu poetry session (Mushaira) at Bahrain Society of Engineers, here in Juffair.

 The event was held under the patronage of Pakistan Embassy in Bahrain and Pakistani Ambassador Muhammad Saeed himself was the chief guest.

 Former Pakistan Club President and Executive Board Member, Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Mohammad Sajid Shaikh was the guest of honor.

 Famous Pakistani poet Abbas Tabish presided over the session.

 Many Urdu poetry lovers from across Bahrain and Saudi Arabia converged to lend their ears to their favourite poets.

 Speaking to DT News, Chief Coordinator Pakistan Urdu Society Malik Zafar Awan said they were thankful to the audience on their unprecedented support and presence at the event. “It was really a great gathering of Urdu poetry lovers,” he said.

 Zafar said the tremendous response has encouraged them to continue organizing such events in the future.

 The Pakistani Ambassador said he was excited to see such a wonderful gathering of poets and poetry lovers from Gulf, India and Pakistan. He congratulated the Urdu Society team for organizing the event that freshened his memories of great Urdu mushairas in Pakistan.

 Famous poets from all over the Gulf, including Khalid Sajjad Ahmed (Kuwait), Sohail Saqib (Saudi Arabia), Salman Jazib (Dubai), Rehman Faris (Pakistan) Mehshar Afridi (India), Qamar Riaz (Oman), Tabish Zaidi (Dubai), Iqbal Qamar (Saudi), Hakeem Aslam Qamar (Saudi), Qudsia Nadeem Lali (Saudi) and Farhat Zahid (Pakistan) took part in the event.

 The session concluded with the presentation of certificates and shields to the participating poets.

 The event was sponsored by BFC, Gold Coast Travels, Unifruiti, Eden Real Estate, Bahrain Pride Centre, Moon Travels and Tours and Arctic media.
