Manama

Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa has called for an Arab awakening to confront the threats and security, economic and political challenges currently facing the Arab World.

Stressing that the rapidly unfolding developments would have severe consequences on Arab countries, he said, “These developments require leaders and officials of the countries of the region to intensify meetings and visits to unify their stances. The decisions to be taken vis-à-vis any potential threat that may put regional security at risk.”

The Premier made these statements as he held discussions with a number of MPs and Shura members, led by Shura Council Chairman Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, in the presence of former Speaker of the Representatives Council Khalifa bin Ahmed Al-Dhahrani and a number of senior state officials at the Gudaibiya Palace here yesterday.

HRH the Premier underscored the importance of executive-legislature cooperation and meetings between government officials and MPs in serving the interests of the nation.

Commenting that the urban boom and the steadily expanding service projects have entitled Bahrain to be a country that copes with modern developments, he urged the officials to constantly follow-up on achievements. Prince Khalifa noted the government’s keenness on providing all support and facilities for development projects.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Adel Al-Assoomi said HRH Premier’s support for the Representatives and Shura councils had contributed significantly to the success of the kingdom’s democratic march and legislative work. “The Premier’s support is the main pillar of the achievements of the National Assembly ever since the legislative work started in Bahrain.”

“Under HRH Premier’s leadership, the government has set a bright example in providing the needed support for the legislative branch to assume and foster its monitoring and legislative role,” the MP added.
