New bloc enters BCCI election fray

Manama : Tawoon, a newly formed group, has announced its intention to run for the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) elections to be held on March 10. 

The seven members of the bloc are: Ali Hussain alhalwachi, Abbas Mohd abdulrasool, Sayed Saeed Khadim AlAlawi, Fadhel AbdulAbbas alsulaibi, Ghalib Al Shaikh Ali Aloraibi, Abdulla Abdulwahab madan and Hameed Mirza Alhelli.

An event was held at New Seasons hall in Adhari yesterday for the announcement. 

Speaking to DT News on the sidelines of the event, Ali Hussain alhalwachi said that the group aims to bring a new perspective.

 “We really aim to differentiate ourselves from the rest because people want to see something different. They are tired of seeing the same names every year over and over. This is the time for a change, especially when we are going through this turbulence in terms of the economy,” he said.

“Every member of this group has been carefully selected. We come from diverse backgrounds, I come from an IT background,  we have someone from real estate background, someone from the medical, some of us has dozens of companies in different industries,” he said.

When asked about the group’s strategy he said, “It is a bit early to discuss that.  Today’s event was just to introduce ourselves. We will be having an event soon to announce our strategy in detail,” he said.
