AWS summit on cloud computing technology in Bahrain

ManamaTech giant Amazon Web Services (AWS) will be hosting its first summit on cloud technology and services at Four Seasons Hotel, Bahrain Bay, on September 25.

“We are bringing together the cloud computing community to connect, collaborate, and learn about AWS at the first-ever AWS Summit Bahrain,” AWS stated.

The high profile technology event event will be divided into two categories, ‘the technical’ track and the ‘business track’, with separate workshops to be held for each category.

The technical track content is tailored to developers and software architects while business track will appeal to business owners, IT managers, and risk and compliance managers.

The full day event will begin with a  keynote featuring Teresa Carlson, VP, Worldwide Public Sector, Amazon Web Services. There will be nine break away sessions on topics such as big data, analytics, security and compliance, adoption models and DevOps.

It will also host an expo called ‘The Hub’, it will provide the attendees with an opportunity to meet top AWS technology and consulting partners, speak with AWS engineers and architects.

AWS hosts similar summits all over the world but Bahrain is the only country in the region to host the event this year.

This follows AWS’s move to set up an office in Bahrain earlier this year. This year, Bahrain has made efforts to accelerate the growth of cloud computing in the Kingdom and to make the country a regional leader in the field.

A meeting of the High Information and Communication Committee held in July adopted the cloud computing policy, making the Kingdom the first Arab country to take such an initiative.

The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa at Gudaibiya Palace.

During the meeting, the deputy premier stressed the need to go ahead with the adoption of cloud computing, given its role in reducing expenditure, ensuring the provision of speedy e-services, expanding the scope of work and increasing flexibility and competitiveness.
