Murdered Bahrain police officer laid to rest

Manama: Hundreds bid adieu to First Lieutenant Hisham Hassan Mohammed Al Hammadi, the police officer who was shot dead by suspected terrorists in Bilad Al Qadeem late on Saturday. Public Security chief Major-General Tariq Al Hassan joined relatives and other mourners at the funeral. His body was laid to rest at Al-Hunainiya graveyard in Riffa.

The mourners extended condolences to the fallen serviceman’s family and all the Bahraini people, praying to Allah the Almighty to rest the soul of the martyr in eternal peace.

Hisham Al Hamadi, who was targeted and killed in an ambush on his private property in the late hours of Saturday, was ‘shot more than a dozen times,’ a release sent to DT News from Bahrain’s embassy in UK.

He was spending the weekend at his farm in Bilad Al Qadeem when he was fatally attacked by armed assailants and shot more than a dozen times. Al Hamadi, the son of an Agriculture Ministry official, was well known in the area and normally spent his day off  at his farm. He is survived by his wife and two young daughters.

A terror group, backed by Iran, known as Al Ashtar Brigades, had claimed the responsibility for the murder of the police officer on Sunday.
