Prisoner bribes Bahrain cop with cash and car
Manama : An inmate allegedly tried to bribe a police officer with a BD18,000 and a car in exchange for smuggling drugs into the prison for him, according to court files.
The police officer was contacted by a second man, who offered to give him a vehicle in return of smuggling the drugs to the inmate. The officer initially said he would think about it, prompting the second defendant to increase the reward to include BD18,000 also.
However, the officer informed his superiors and the second defendant was arrested red-handed in a sting operation.
The man told prosecutors that he was instructed by the inmate to make the offer.
The duo’s trial began yesterday.
