Petition against Justice Ministry signed
Manama: Over 200 lawyers yesterday signed a petition against the Ministry of Justice’s decision to increase the ‘implement fees’ of the court verdicts, branding it as ‘unjustifiable’.
The previous fees were standing at BD4, but lawyers accused the Ministry of adding an extra BD2. The petition also included a threat of legal action against the Ministry in the event of no response from the Ministry.
“The administration of the Ministry of Justice imposed extra amount on the implement fees defined by the law based on Ministerial decrees. The original fee was BD4, but now it has been increased to BD6 for each transaction. We met officials from the Ministry on several occasions, but there was no consensus,” the petition read.
