A Northern Municipal Council member has called for the swift installation of traffic monitoring cameras in Salman City and stronger late-night enforcement following residents' complaints about dangerous driving behaviour.

Second Constituency representative Basim Abu Idrees said residents have reported repeated incidents of drifting, excessive speeding and red-light violations between 11pm and dawn.

Complaints, videos, and messages received from residents highlight growing concerns over road safety, as reckless driving disturbs residential areas and poses risks to motorists and pedestrians.

Abu Idrees said he has submitted a request to the General Directorate of Traffic to increase civil traffic monitoring in Salman City during late-night hours.

He said reported violations include dangerous drifting, reckless speeding and ignoring traffic signals, stressing that urgent action is needed to protect residents and road users.

Camera Installation

The municipal representative also called for the completion of the traffic enforcement and surveillance camera installation project at key locations across the city.

He said the cameras would improve traffic discipline, deter violations and support efforts to prevent accidents caused by dangerous driving.

Abu Idrees praised the efforts of the General Directorate of Traffic in maintaining road safety and enforcing traffic regulations.

He said these efforts reflect the Interior Ministry’s commitment to protecting lives and property while enhancing traffic security across Bahrain.
