Bahrain committed to achieving clean energy transition

The Kingdom of Bahrain is committed to transitioning towards a more sustainable and efficient energy system, in line with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

This was emphasised by His Excellency Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, as he noted that the Kingdom’s efforts are ongoing to achieve ambitious visions that ensure a sustainable future for coming generations.

Marking International Clean Energy Day, observed annually on January 26, he said the occasion highlights the importance of sustainability pathways and clean energy, in line with the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Minister explained that clean energy represents a key pillar of comprehensive development, given its central role in reducing carbon emissions, improving resource-use efficiency, and supporting sustainable economic growth.

He noted that the Kingdom continues to align its policies and national programmes with international best practices and standards, while accelerating efforts to achieve its declared goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.

H.E. Humaidan added that the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs has launched a series of initiatives and strategic projects aimed at expanding the use of clean and renewable energy sources, encouraging innovation and the adoption of modern technological solutions, and strengthening partnerships with regional and international entities.
