Bahrain Expresses Solidarity with Morocco, Iraq Amidst Tragic Incidents
Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain has expressed solidarity with Morocco and Iraq following devastating incidents in both countries. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed Bahrain's sincere condolences and sympathy to the families of the victims of the building collapse in Fez, Morocco, which claimed 22 lives and injured 16 others.
The collapse occurred late Wednesday night in the northern Moroccan city of Fes, with women and children among the dead. Locals reported that the buildings did not meet standards, having four floors each despite regulations allowing only two-storey buildings in the area.
Bahrain also extended its condolences to Iraq, which has been hit by heavy rains and flash floods, causing multiple fatalities and damage across several provinces. The floods have exposed Iraq's vulnerability to extreme weather patterns, with authorities warning that infrastructure is ill-equipped to cope with sudden surges in rainfall.
