New Rules Alert: Cafes, Boutiques to Close by Midnight, Workshops to Shut by 7 pm in Bahrain Residential Areas
Manama: The Southern Region Municipal Council has unanimously approved a decision to regulate the working hours of commercial establishments in the Kingdom’s residential areas. The new rules aim to organise commercial activities and maintain resident comfort.
According to the decision, restaurants, cafes, boutiques and other commercial activities will operate from 5 am to 12 midnight. Garages, workshops, scrap yards, and service activities in residential neighbourhoods will operate from 7 am to 7 pm.
Vice President of the Municipal Council, Abdullah Boubshait, stated that the decision targets commercial establishments operating 24 hours without regard for time regulations and resident comfort. Exceptions include essential service establishments like pharmacies.
The technical committee’s report cited maintaining calm and tranquillity in residential neighbourhoods, reducing traffic congestion and raising public cleanliness levels as key reasons for the decision.
