Mobile application for postal services launched

A new mobile application for Postal Services has been launched by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications in collaboration with the E-government Authority.

Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications Assistant Undersecretary for Postal Affairs Shaikh Bader bin Khalifa AlKhalifa stated: In collaboration with the E-government Authority the Ministry has developed the Bahrain Post Services mobile application which comprises enhancements of additional new services along with numerous features that employ high levels of technology.

The application provides new services such as ‘Mailbox Renewal’ which allows users to renew and pay their yearly renewal fees online, a feature to view the stamp collections for stamp collectors and visitors who are interested in Bahrain’s philately and heritage; and a feature that allows users to receive notifications and updates related to the postal services. To facilitate the use of the application, a detailed list of FAQs is available on the app, as well as a a Demo to assist users in navigating the services.

Further enhancements have also been made to other services which were previously available in the application; including tracking the status of postal packages delivery, calculating shipping costs, as well as viewing the locations and details of post offices and public mailboxes.

In this regard, His Excellency the Assistant Undersecretary highlighted the objective of developing the mobile application, saying "We want to ease the process of obtaining information and services by combining more than one service in a single platform. The app enables the user to complete every process related to sending parcels in an integrated manner all in one go, and with mobile convenience."

He added that the launch of this app is one step in executing MTT’s mission and strategy which aims at developing the postal services sector, and operating Bahrain Post at the highest standard and at affordable prices to all.

Shaikh Bader confirmed that the collaboration with the eGovernment Authority comes as part of the Ministry’s direction to streamline work processes with relevant entities in order to fully serve the citizens with the highest level of professionalism.

It should be noted that the number of mailbox users has exceeded 34,000 users - comprising individuals and companies. Bahrain Post is keen on diversifying the channels of offered services which can be used via the mobile application on eGovernment App Store (Bahrain.bh/apps), National Portal (Bahrain.bh), or the National Contact Centre on 8000 8001.
