HM King Hamad sets national priorities as fourth legislative session opens

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa outlined the Kingdom of Bahrain’s priorities for the coming phase of national development, emphasising the importance of national identity, social cohesion, and scientific and knowledge-based advancement.

“We begin with focus on the national identity, including its moral principles and values. Foremost among these lessons is upholding national identity, strengthening unity among all components of society, and rejecting manifestations of fanaticism, hatred, and foreign allegiances,” he said.

HM the King made the remarks as he inaugurated the fourth session of the sixth legislative term of the Shura and Representatives Councils at the Isa Cultural Centre, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

In his address, HM King Hamad highlighted the role of innovation and sustainable growth in driving the Kingdom’s development, stressing the importance of leveraging its strong industrial base, advanced service environment, and technological advancements.

He noted the significance of artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and space exploration in developing vital sectors to ensure economic diversification and national resource sustainability.

“We attach importance that future action approaches take into account Bahrain’s strong foundation in modern industry and its advanced service environment, through technological advancement and optimal utilization of artificial intelligence, investment in renewable energy, or exploration of opportunities in outer space to develop all vital sectors,” His Majesty said.

Youth

Recognising the contributions of the nation’s youth, HM the King praised Bahrain’s young talents, particularly their achievements in scientific and technological fields, including the successful launch of the Bahraini satellite.

“These young individuals, through their global achievements, demonstrate their readiness to contribute to leading both the present and the future. They deserve opportunities to participate in work, training, and taking on responsibilities, so that we may ensure generational continuity in carrying the noble mission of the nation,” he added.

His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to regional stability and peace, emphasising support for Palestinian rights: “The Palestinian issue will remain at the forefront of the Kingdom’s priorities…We emphasise our steadfast support for the two-state solution and the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as the optimal path to achieving the security and prosperity that the region deserves.”

Security Praising the role of Bahrain’s security forces and citizens, HM King Hamad highlighted their contributions as essential pillars of national development.
