Bahrain and Japan Sign MoU to Strengthen Space Sector Cooperation

Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Essaeri, CEO of the Bahrain Space Agency, affirmed Bahrain’s commitment to advancing its space sector and building national capabilities in this promising field by fostering cooperation with leading international space agencies and leveraging their expertise.

The announcement coincided with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bahrain Space Agency and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), during the official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Japan. The MoU was signed on behalf of Bahrain by His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and on behalf of Japan by His Excellency Hiroshi Yamakawa, President of JAXA.

The MoU aims to broaden the scope of partnership in the space sector through bilateral international cooperation in research and development, knowledge exchange, training, and the implementation of joint projects.

It also seeks to enhance technical and scientific collaboration in peaceful space exploration, support the space industry, and strengthen capacity building, education, and public awareness in the field. Additionally, it will facilitate cooperation in other relevant areas that contribute to the sustainable growth and development of this vital sector.
