Bahrain, Japan Elevate Relations to Strategic Partnership Following Crown Prince’s Visit

Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani praised the successful official visit of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to Japan, describing it as a significant step in strengthening the deep-rooted friendship between the two nations and a new beginning for a comprehensive and growing strategic partnership.

Dr. Al Zayani emphasized that the visit, held under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Majesty Emperor Naruhito of Japan, reflects the commitment of both countries’ leadership to advance bilateral cooperation.

He noted that the fruitful meetings between His Royal Highness and Emperor Naruhito, Crown Prince Akishino, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and senior Japanese officials, along with the warm reception extended to His Royal Highness, underscored the strong alignment between the two nations and their shared determination to enhance cooperation across multiple fields.

The Foreign Minister highlighted the positive outcomes of the visit, which elevated bilateral relations from a comprehensive partnership to a strategic one. He explained that this new framework would broaden cooperation in politics, diplomacy, and coordination on regional and international issues, while also expanding ties in economy, trade, investment, energy, industry, science, technology, digital transformation, space, and healthcare.

He added that Bahrain and Japan are committed to exploring further areas of mutual interest, particularly in priority sectors such as trade, investment, technology, and energy, thereby supporting regional and global security, stability, and prosperity.
