35 Years of Bahrain-Russia Diplomatic Relations Marked with Cultural Exchange

The Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), represented by Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Authority, participated in the St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures, held in St. Petersburg, Russia, from September 10 to 13, 2025.

Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa stated, “We take pride in the strong cultural ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation, which have borne fruit over many years through numerous joint cultural initiatives and projects. This year, Bahrain is hosting the Russian Cultural Seasons, coinciding with the celebration of 35 years of diplomatic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation.”

He added, “We are always keen to promote Bahrain’s cultural heritage in Russia, with which we share deep historical connections. In this context, the Hermitage Museum, one of the world’s leading cultural landmarks, is hosting the exhibition ‘From Bahrain’s Heritage: The Art of Sword and Dagger Making.’ The exhibition highlights Bahrain’s traditional craftsmanship in sword and dagger making, introducing officials, the public, and investors in Russia to this unique aspect of our cultural heritage.”

The St. Petersburg International Forum of United Cultures is considered one of the world’s leading cultural events. It attracts participation from prominent figures across various cultural sectors, including cultural officials, academics, theater and music stars, as well as internationally recognized speakers on cultural issues.

The forum provides a supportive platform for international cultural initiatives, offering opportunities to showcase major cultural projects, sign agreements and memorandums of understanding between institutions, and host diverse programs and events, including seminars, lectures, art exhibitions, and musical evenings.
