Bahrain, Pakistan Leaders Discuss Security and Development Partnerships

President Asif Ali Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan today received Lt-General His Excellency Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Minister of Interior, at the start of his official visit to Pakistan. The visit reflects the deep-rooted ties and historic brotherhood between the two countries and their peoples.

During the meeting, the Interior Minister conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to the Pakistani President. He also extended their wishes for President Zardari’s continued good health and for further prosperity, stability, and progress for the Pakistani people.

President Zardari affirmed that Pakistan highly values its strong and longstanding relationship with Bahrain, praising the ongoing cooperation between the two nations. He expressed hope for further strengthening collaboration in security, migration, counterterrorism, and combating narcotics, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to advancing its partnership with Bahrain.

For his part, Shaikh Rashid highlighted Bahrain’s pride in its close relations with Pakistan, stressing joint efforts to develop and expand cooperation across various sectors. He also praised the contributions of the Pakistani community in Bahrain, noting their role in the Kingdom’s development and their harmonious coexistence with Bahraini citizens, enjoying full care, services, and support.

In a related meeting, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also received the Bahraini Interior Minister. Welcoming the visit, Prime Minister Sharif commended the distinguished ties between the two countries and reiterated Pakistan’s keenness to deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields. He further expressed appreciation for the care and support extended to the Pakistani community in Bahrain.

The Interior Minister, in turn, conveyed the greetings and best wishes of His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to the Pakistani Premier, wishing him continued health and success, and prosperity for the people of Pakistan.
