Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Women and Bahraini Women’s Union Strengthen Cooperation
H.E. Ms. Lolwah Saleh Al Awadhi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), emphasized the ongoing commitment of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabika bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King and Chairperson of the SCW, to enhancing cooperation with civil society organizations concerned with women’s affairs. She highlighted the complementary relationship between the SCW and the Bahraini Women’s Union in serving Bahraini women.
The remarks were made during a joint committee meeting between the SCW and the Bahraini Women’s Union, held at the Council’s headquarters, with the presence of Ms. Ahlam Ahmed Rajab, Chairperson of the Bahraini Women’s Union.
The committee discussed areas of joint cooperation to implement the memorandum of understanding between the two parties. These include raising awareness about equal opportunities and gender balance, promoting the national model for integrating women’s needs, highlighting women’s achievements, and exchanging expertise in combating violence against women and providing family guidance services. The parties also agreed to share statistics, studies, and research on mutual areas of interest and collaborate on awareness, training, and knowledge-sharing programs on women’s issues and family stability.
The meeting also reviewed initiatives and programs under the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women (2025–2026) and identified joint priorities for implementing these programs across four key areas: family stability, decision-making and governance, economic participation, and quality of life.
In addition, the discussion covered initiatives and projects implemented by the Bahraini Women’s Union, including awareness programs for youth preparing for marriage and media projects. The meeting explored ways to collaborate on awareness, training, and promoting the SCW’s initiatives and programs, including awards and other initiatives currently being implemented by the Council.
