Bahrain Hosts U.S. Delegation on Migrant Worker Protection

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) in Bahrain welcomed a delegation of U.S. Congress staff at the Migrant Workers Protection Center, with representatives from the U.S. Department of State also in attendance.
The delegation was briefed on Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to maintain a stable work environment that safeguards the rights of all parties. Officials highlighted several key initiatives, including the Wage Protection System and the regional training center dedicated to combating human trafficking.
During the visit, the delegation learned about the center’s comprehensive services, which include preventive support, legal guidance, and safe shelter for victims or potential victims of exploitation. The center also plays a critical role in the national anti-trafficking framework, acting as a first point of contact for detecting signs of human trafficking and workplace exploitation.
