The Northern Municipal Council wants stronger working ties with ministries linked to local projects, its chairman Dr Shubber Al Wadaei said at the closing session of the third term.
He called for better coordination with public bodies involved in municipal affairs, urging more joint meetings to ensure councillors are kept abreast of delays and developments in pending projects.
Ministries, he said, ought to give proper attention to council proposals.
This is especially true for those aimed at improving services or delivering development on the ground, so members can make their contribution clear.
Dr Al Wadaei also pressed for a review of legal and procedural options that might allow for a fairer split of funds.
He said raising the home renovation budget in the next stage was a priority, pointing to the growing population in the Northern Governorate.
He closed by urging a separate budget for fire-damaged homes instead of drawing from the same funds used for general repair works.
