MPs urge jobs for table tennis stars

An urgent proposal to support Bahrain’s table tennis team following their qualification for the 2026 World Championship has been submitted to Parliament, as MPs called for jobs and practical backing to help the players stay focused on the sport.
The motion was put forward by MP Abdulhakim Al Sheno.
He said the team’s success was no fluke, but the result of sustained effort, discipline and faith in the ability of young Bahrainis.
He described the qualification for the London competition as a proud moment for the sport in Bahrain and said the players deserved more than praise.
They should be offered proper employment arrangements to ensure their progress is not hampered by job concerns.
